I received an emergency call through the answering service while I was attending a parade with my family. An office tenant was very upset and demanded to speak with me.
Tenant: Why are the doors to the office building locked? This is unacceptable!
Me: It’s July 4th. The building is closed for the holiday.
Tenant: What? It’s not Christmas or anything like that!
Me: You’re right. It’s not Christmas. It’s the 4th of July.
It turned out he did have keys and could get inside the building. But he still made that emergency call to express his outrage over having to use his keys at all on a day that wasn’t Christmas.
